Dr. Amber Campana, DACM, LAc, Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (She/Her)

I am Dr. Amber Campana, an NCCAOM board-certified Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. My academic background includes a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science. I also hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Cal Poly Humboldt in Northern California.

My journey into natural health began in childhood, inspired by my mother, a certified herbalist, whose ability to help others profoundly influenced me. Personal health challenges further motivated me to pursue a career in natural medicine.

I am dedicated to providing safe, gentle, and inclusive care. I specialize in women’s health, digestive issues, anxiety and depression, ADHD, stress management, and pain management for individuals of all ages.

My approach is rooted in a commitment to health education and client-centered care. I work closely with clients to educate them about their health concerns and to develop personalized wellness plans that enhance their quality of life. I continuously refine my therapeutic approach through ongoing education and evidence-based research. I believe that everyone has the potential to heal and grow, and it is never too late to discover one’s best self.

P.W.

Amber is a great listener, is very caring and empathetic, and her passion for helping her clients shines through everything she does. She is very knowledgeable about her craft and is excited to share that knowledge with those always curious to understand more (like me!). And the acupuncture I’ve received from Amber has helped me shed back pain, chronic tension, and grief and anxiety that I had been struggling with — for years! Life changing! I truly can’t recommend her enough!

J.C.

I feel very fortunate to have found Amber during a recent health crisis. I was a healthy person until about two years ago when my health hit the fan and no one in Western medicine could figure out what was going on. A local neurologist recommended I try acupuncture, which is how I found Amber. She quite literally saved my life! She stuck by my side for extensive acupuncture treatment and brought my body back to a stable and healthy condition. Amber is caring, gentle, a great listener, and a great acupuncturist!

FAQ

Is acupuncture safe?
When administered by a board-certified professional, acupuncture is generally considered safe with minimal side effects. The needles used are sterile, disposable, and for single use only. Potential side effects may include mild soreness, minor bleeding, or bruising at the needle insertion sites.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most individuals find acupuncture to be a relaxing and comfortable procedure. While some may experience brief discomfort during needle insertion—ranging from a slight pinch to a dull ache—this is typically minimal. Your comfort and safety are paramount, so please communicate any concerns with your practitioner.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required varies based on the individual, the medical conditions being addressed, and the duration and severity of symptoms. Acupuncture treatments are designed to complement each other, gradually enhancing the body’s natural healing processes. The pace of progress can differ from person to person.
How should I prepare for my acupuncture session?
To prepare for your session, it is advisable to stay hydrated and consume a light meal 1-3 hours prior to your appointment. Since acupuncture often involves needling in the arms and legs, please wear loose-fitting clothing that can be easily adjusted. If needed, coverings and gowns are provided.
What To Expect
After your session, you may feel relaxed or energized. Common experiences include
reduced pain, decreased stress, improved focus, and better sleep. Some clients may
feel temporarily lightheaded or sleepy, so it’s advisable to plan your day accordingly.
Avoid heavy exercise immediately afterward, and be sure to hydrate, eat something,
and take time to relax. Please communicate any changes or reactions to Amber so she
can tailor your treatment as needed.
How Acupuncture Works

Acupuncture is a time-tested form of holistic medicine that involves the insertion of very
thin, sterile, single-use needles at strategic points on the body to stimulate natural
healing and pain management.
Originating as a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine over 3,000 years ago,
acupuncture is based on the concepts of meridians (pathways) and Qi (energy). Qi is
believed to flow through these meridians, connecting to specific areas and organ
systems. When meridians are blocked, Qi cannot flow freely, leading to pain and illness.
Inserting a needle at specific points along these pathways helps to rebalance and clear
obstructions.
From a biomedical perspective, acupuncture may stimulate the central nervous system,
connective tissue, and muscles, potentially boosting the body’s natural painkillers. This
process can trigger biochemical changes, releasing chemicals that promote physical
and emotional well-being.
